DONATING FROM
IRA ACCOUNTS

Watch this space for updates on the
status of the IRA Charitable Distributions Program for individuals 70 1/2 and over.

The Pension Protection Act of 2006 that created "qualified charitable distributions" from IRA's expired 12/31/2007. But, just in time for year-end charitable giving, the Emergency Economic Stabilization Act of 2008 extended it through December 31, 2009.

The Act permits taxpayers to make tax-free distributions of up to $100,000 from IRA's for charitable purposes.

The essence of the Act is to allow taxpayers age 70 ½ and older to make charitable distributions of up to $100,000 per year directly from an IRA to a qualified charity. These IRA distributions are tax-free, don't increase adjusted gross income (AGI) and satisfy required minimum distribution (RMD) requirements.

For those individuals eligible and willing to consider directing all or part of your RMD to ICS, we would be most grateful. ICS can provide additional information. Please contact Bonnie Kampa at 297-2738 x212. All inquiries are strictly confidential.
