How We Serve:
FINANCIAL
ASSISTANCE
|
|
ICS provides financial assistance and short-term case management for individuals or families in emergency situations.
The crisis may result from loss of job, illness or injury, or occur during the
waiting period for other forms of public assistance.
|
Referrals come from
congregations, social service agencies,
and the community at large. This
program is sometimes
referred to as our Good Samaritan program.
The types
of assistance offered include: Rent and shelter,
utilities, emergency
prescription medications, travel funds,
food and gas vouchers, and
back-to-work expenses such as permits, ID′s, and clothing.
An inter-agency
computer network screens and verifies client
information. The ICS staff makes
every effort to create a caring and
compassionate environment that respects the privacy and dignity of all
people served.
Pima County grant funds are a
major funding source for this program.
Additional contributions from City of
Tucson, individuals, and faith
communities also provide discretionary funds.
Services are provided at the ICS Main office and the ICS Eastside office

Success stories
"I am so grateful for your help
and your cheerful attitude!
Not once did you accuse or berate me. Your kind understanding of
my embarrassment enabled me to feel a small portion of
dignity.
I pray that whatever you put your hand to shall be blessed!"
"You were the only agency out of
15 who responded to
my need when I was released from prison."
"Thank you for the money to send
off for my documents to
obtain my ID.
It′s people like you who make life′s difficult times bearable."
"If it wouldn′t be for funding
and people like you, families like mine
would be homeless...I believe the Lord
sends angels to watch over us
and keep us safe."
