Tori Carlson Chosen as Volunteer Administrator of the Year
On January 18, the Southern Arizona Volunteer Management Association (SAVMA) honored Tori Carlson (above right) as Volunteer Administrator of the Year. Tori has been the Volunteer Engagement Manager at ICS for nearly a decade. She oversees a roster of more than 1,000 volunteers, about 850 of them currently active in ICS roles.
Tori has her certification in volunteer administration (CVA). She is one of the only volunteer managers in Southern Arizona who assists in training nonprofits in Service Enterprise with the ASU Lodestar Center for Philanthropy Nonprofit Innovation. She serves on the Governor’s Office of Youth, Faith and Family’s Service and Volunteerism Commission.
In this video, Tori talks about elements of a successful volunteer program.
Fredericka Hills, a Workforce Development volunteer since 2015, was also honored at the SAVMA Awards with the Community Service Recognition Award. Fredericka brings her extensive experience as a manager in the federal government to the Northwest Workforce Development Center. There, she helps clients identify their skills to create or update résumés, build their confidence, get hired, and stay hired. “I love finding someone’s strengths and bringing them to the next level of development,” says Fredericka.
Fredericka is also part of the AmeriCorps Seniors task force at ICS, and is instrumental in planning community-wide projects for 9/11 National Day of Service and MLK Jr. Day of Service.
